On my TJ, I got behind the switches on each door jamb and unplugged them. Or you could buy these little clips that go over the switch to hold it in. I think most Jeep parts places sell them. I'd check with Quadratech.

'04 Wrangler

I've looked at the fuses under the hood and behind the glove box, but nothing seems right.

theres a fuse (at least on my 98) called the DOOR INTERRUPT SWITCH.

Pull it and it works as though your doors are closed all the time.

If you pull the fuse the dome light cannot be turned on when needed. Pull the wires from behind the switch on the door. You can put them back on later if you want to....I never have.

To remove the wires behind the switch on the door, do I need to dismantle the edge of the dash?

I went to the Quadretech website and saw a "TJ Dome Light Switch." It looks like a great solution; does anyone know how big of a hassle it is to install?

Don't need to dismantle anything. Just reach up behind the inside edge of the door frame behind the switch and you will feel the wire. Follow it to the switch and pull off while holding onto the piece that fits to the back of the switch. It may take a little wiggle - can't quite remember, but it is very easy and can be put back on. Not that I think you'll ever bother if you like having the doors off. I never put the nuts back on the door hinges either (BTW that's a 13mm and you need an angle dohickey for the ratchet or a wobble head - angle thing usually comes with standard ratchet set). Then all you'll need is a foot peg for the lower hinge hole so you can hang your leg out and really look cool!

On my 03 TJ when I pull fuse #4 behind the glove box, the lights go out. They will come on when the vehicle is shut off and I can rotate the interior light dimmer switch and turn them on.
