Getting the Wheeling Fever
Check out the TJ Dome Light switch available on Quadratec. Here is a link http://www.quadratec.com/products/13029_200.htm

I've purchased one and the installation looks easy. Waiting for the weather before I tackle it.

pull the #4 fuse, the dome lights will still come on when you manually turn them on, but beware, when the #4 fuse is pulled it also disables the audible tone you get when you leave your lights on and the car is shut off, just remember that when your doors are off always check to make sure your lights are off every time you shut the car off, ive done it some many times ive found that even in the middle of day when its sunny as could be i still check to make sure the lights are off

Gee, what did we ever do before they put those warning tones in the cars?

Well I just tested that out last night and it worked! I'm a bit surprised that the light is double sourced from two different circuits. Is this common in the automotive industry? I'm more familiar with building wiring....that would be really dangerous.

A lot of dome lights in vehicles have constant 12volt power on one side of the lamp, and the lamp is turned on and off by applying and removing the ground on the other side of the lamp. Could that be what's happening here?

Could be....Door switches work off fuse No. 4 and the headlamp/dome light switch could be on the ground side. Just speculating though....
