Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am going to be putting high steer on my 85 4runner this weekend and i was wondering what kind of troubles i might run into. I have an ifs steering box and a ifs steering box mount from marlin. I want to know if the 85 steering shaft will reach and fit and if the 85 power steering lines will work with the ifs box. Also the front suspesion is being lifted 3 inches is that enough lift for the hysteer setup to work properly?

Yes, yes and just barely.

For steering shaft, see:

Roll Me Over
move the box as far forward as you possibly can, then tilt it upward as far as possible if using a "stock" type pitman arm. The trick to doing this w/ low lift is to get the end of the pitman arm as close to the frame as possible. Good friend actually had Marlin create a pitman arm w/ reverse taper for his 85 w/ 2" lift.

I have nothing important to say.

X2

Otherwise, as you stuff your front left tire into the fender, your leaf spring will get "caught" with the pitman nut, and you won't be able to steer at all. Don't ask me how I know. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />

85 4Runner - With NEW Marlin 4.7 Gears!! It's a whole new beast!
