hey all.
ive been on here for a while, and i gotta ask, what are ball joint spacers? ive seen a few rigs that people say that it has 1.5 ball joint spacers, and im a little confused as to what they are, how they help, and how hard they are to install.
thanks! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Ball joint spacer information, including installation:

Basically they space down the spindle/steering knuckle from the upper control arm for added lift and suspension travel:

ok. so a few more questions. are they a cost effective way to get a little more lift? and do they cause damage to existing parts or cause premature ware? and where can i get them and for about how much?

P.S.-btw, im at school, and our schools server blocks your website 4crawler. sorry, ill look at it as soon as i can.

another advantage is that if you precranked your t-bars already, if you install these things, you will have less harseness in the ride since you are decranking the t-bars without loosing the lift...

i have put them on two trucks and would do it again. BJ Spacers, with some trimming, maybe a 1 inch body lift, will be enough to run 33's. In my opinion, that is all you need to go offroad. I always take the easy routes. You will need to do a few more mods to go offroad effectively, but as far as tires go, 33's with BJ spacers are it. Best bang for your buck. I bought mine from 4crawler.

i think thats the route im going to take. i found a set from San Diego Off Road Solutions for about $120, so now i just have to save the money to do it. did you guys have any problems putting them on? also, did you have to put new shocks on?

I followed the installation instruction from 4Crawlers & San Diego Off Road Solutions.I had to buy a air tool hi speed cutter $30 to trim some of the metal to fit the
spacers. After that its pretty easy fit.
to be able to fit the 33's the Rancho shocks got stretched out so I found a pair of Pro-Comp shocks at the auto yard for $20.My ride is not too stiff but still comfortable.I still have to get longer shocks for the rear.Pro-Comp or Bilsteins is my choice.
