I second the Mucinex. Had sinus problems for years......any cold no matter what the type always goes to my sinus' and micunex has saved me many a sleepless painful night....
and secondly if you dont like the pharma method then go down to your local liquer store and ask for some Rock n Rye and it will clear it up as well....talked to quite a few "Ole Timers" that swear by it

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just mixed Zicam nightime with tea and honey. I have 30 minutes then I'm down for the night. The stuff is like a knock out dart used on large animals

I have bad reactions to some drugs. When I was in Thailand I was taking Larium for malaria. That stuff made me koo koo, crazy full color dreams, flying etc etc.
Then when I got bronchitus in Florida the doc gave me Guefinex (spelling) Works great but my wife said I was "strange" I'm like no I'm fine, she goes no your not. Then she asks me "why did the monkey fall out of the tree" I said I don't know. She said "because it was dead". I couldn't stop laughing for 15 minutes and then decided to quit taking that stuff also

Sambucol It's an anti-viral, totally natural product. Remember in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Frenchman said; "Your monther was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries"? Sambucol is elderberry extract. Used to be the cold medicine of choice for peasants. Now it's pretty darned expensive. Anyway, it helps a lot. Make sure to get the glucose added one or it'll be really foul tasting. My wife and kids don't likethe glucose version either, but I think it tastes like IHOP rasberry syrup. I like it. Raley's has it in the health food suppliment section, and most heath food store should have it. I got knocked flat by what sounds like the same thing you have. My wife never caught it after taking Sambucol. I still have it, but nothing like I did. I haven't been very good about taking my medicine

What you should do depends on if it's a simple cold (viral), or if you have had a cold and the inflammation & swelling has led to a bacterial sinus infection. With a regular cold I usually wait it out, haven't really experimented with potions and whatnot, although some of the above suggestions sound interesting enough to try next time I get a cold. But if your snot turns solid yellow and smells bacterial (kind of dough-ey, yeasty) then it's a sinus infection and you should embrace modern medicine and get some antibiotics. Amoxicillin should knock it out pretty well, and for me at least, won't make me like erythromycin.

I've always had success with homemade chicken broth/soup and lots of rest. If the nose is plugged up a nice hot steamy shower is recommended. Oh I forgot, hot tea with a shot of brandy is good too.

Been in bed all day, head full of yellow snot
Taking this Zicam stuff but I think I was ripped of for $12 Mix 1 tsp salt + 1 tsp baking soda(important) in a glass of warm water. It should be approximately the strength of canned soup, adjust amount of water. Gargle it every half-hour. It loosens up the mucus and is good for a 'head cold'.

Now,now, we're not tryin to hurt the guy. Speakin' of peppers, I was sent a section of the Dallazz paper a few years back, howled my butt off reading it; found part of it on line. Hijack unintended, but the occasional bite of kimchi will make ya forget about a hella head cold too. http://www.exit109.com/~mstevens/dallas_hot.html
