On the subject of gears and lockers, I've read on here that the ratios are 4.78. That's actually pretty low already.

Digressing to my days running locked and loaded Samurais, they had 1.3L, 205/70R15 tires with 3.73 gears stock. The available gear ratios were 4.57, 4.88 and 5.12. Now, the 4.57 would bring the Samurai running 33's back to street tolerances while the 4.88 and 5.12 would of course give you more crawling capabilites.

Now, the Sami's only weighed 1836 lbs compared to KIA at 3500 lbs. (Damn that's heavy for such a small vehicle). That means the KIA already has a bigger motor and lower gears with the same size tires, so does the weight have that much to do with it or does the transmission and transfer have that high of gears?

Anybody have one lifted with bigger tires that is an A/T? How does the A/T do pulling those bigger tires?
