When I put mine in, I found I could only get it so close with the tranny jack. But could not get a perfect alignment. So resorted to just lifting it off the jack by hand and after a few tries got the right series of motions to slide it right into place. Once it hit the ritst spot, it just went all the way until the bellhousing was flush to the block.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
It really helps if the body has a lift 1" or more. The last time I did mine I had mine stock lift.I always put my tranny in gear.I line up the trans according to the angle of the engine.I have a socket wrench in front of the crank to match up once you get the tranny pinion close enough to the clutch splines. Its getting the right angle of the tranny to match up correctly.Once you get it close you need to place some bolts to block so you can turn the crank to really match up an then it really goes in and smooth.I too need to change my clutch really soon.

I have pulled the tranny SO many times.... Just when I did the clutch - hopefully you wont hear the friction noise I heard......

Hears what I found, jack under oil pan (use wood), you will have to play with this angle and the tranny jack (i have the same HF).... You might be catching on the splines - if tranny is in gear and may work in N, give the flange a lil side to side (back and forth) action as you start to insert. After its in (keep minds outta gutter) you may need to give a pump or a release of the oil pan jack... once you have the right angles it slides in like butter.

I also thing I had the tranny tilted and angled slightly when inserting.
I pulled tranny and t-case as a whole.....
I pulled Xmember too - - and had the tranny jack on the tranny just infront of where the crossmember would go (keep this in mind cause you don't want the jack in the way when you go to bolt the Xmember on....

Hope it helps - take your time, get PO'd walk away and come back, it will fall into place.....
