Fred you write what should be common knowledge. My point is.. if your manual says use API 10W30 oil...then they are all so similar that it doesn't matter which is used.
At one time the different colored cans of oil came from the wells of the different oil companies. Some in the east, some in the south, a few from the North Sea.. and it could be argued between costumers of each how good their oil was.
However today the oil is all made by distributors Maybe two or three of them around the country.
These distributors mix their oil and can it in different colored cans and ship it out for the different brands.
Maybe they have different additives in the different cans... maybe not! Surely the additives are not a secret? So any oil company can give directions to add any additives they wish to their oil.
All the hype that is printed about what certain companies add to their oil is a JOKE to me.
