cause there is only one tight spot per side, but turning right is tighter than left.

exaclty like her's it's from about 2 o'clock to 4:30 turning right and then from about10 o'clock to 7:30 or so turning left......

it's only for the first revolution of the steering wheel and then it's normal.

This eliminates the u'joint and rag joint as well as the bearings inside the steering column.

The transfer box turns more than once while steering so this is eliminated.

the steering box uses a worm gear, and a rack this would rule out the worm gear since it makes more than one revolution.

The rack inside the steering box could have a bad spot on/in it but it would have to be the same distance from "straight" so this is unlikely.........this leaves the pump and R/P.

The way the rack works is the pinion turns on the rack making the rack move so the pinion turns more than once on it's travel left to right so,if it was bad then hte symtum would repeat it's self.

The rack is same thing as the "rack" inside the steering box......the problem would have to be repeated at the same place on both sides of the rack........

this is only my .02

This leads me to beleive it's not mechanical per say but a hydraulic pressure or lack there of........

more later
