There are a few shops that will test, clean and rebuild the injectors. I sent my 4 (did not think to send the cold start injector) to RC Engr. about 8 years ago:

Yes...
For years (due to a bad ecu) I HAD the CSI wire directly to the battery through a toggle switch on the dash. I would hit the switch for a second or two till it cranked and started. This is somewhat how the FSM shows how to test the the injector to apply 12 volts to one side and ground the other.

I will give it a try in the next few days. How did you determine that you had a bad ECU? I'm not getting a check engine light and I know the light works (kept lighting up until I replaced my O2 sensor). Also can the cold start injector be rebuilt/repaired? I remember reading about a place called RC engineering(I think) that rebuild injectors.

OK, I hooked up a togle switch to the CSI and it works. So I will have to try and find a CSTime switch. 22RE fired up fine but when I turn the toggle off engine trys to die (could be a sign that all my injectors need repair). Should it remain on until engine coolant reaches normal operating temp? Again, is there a way to check for a bad ECU?

I'll take any help/opinions on this I can get.

Check fuel rail pressure... a degrading fuel pump (with low output pressure) will cause hard starting after it sits for a while, yet run fine after starting.....

Had a '85 with the 5M engine with same symptoms.. Fuel pump eventually totally failed.
