I managed not to see the dash indicater somehow and left my new Montero in 4x4 high range for about eight miles on paved highway at about 40-50 miles an hour. I wonder if I did any damage and if so to what. This has a part time transfer case by the way.

Probably not, a bit more tire wear but little chance of other damage.
