On Monteros where is the ambient temperature gauge sensor located? It seems to me that almost anywhere on a hot car you would get a false reading.

Out in front of the radiator somewhere. Any further back and it gets engine heat. You sometimes get a false high reading after a hot soak in still air, as the sensor picks up radiant heat from the radiator and engine, but air flow should get it back in sync pretty quick after you restart.

If I remember right on the gen 2's its in the front bumper behind the plastic..

Drivers side, behind front bumper, below left side of headlight, right next to the bumper bump-out piece. Wire and connector runs down between headlight and right side of grill. Manual says to remove grill for removal access. There is a test procedure if you need one.

Thanks. Sounds like it?s well located to avoid false readings. The altimeter seems to be pretty much on the money too.
