Hi all,

After going from dealer to dealer and seeing 'not so perfect' Pajero's for 10K+, I am considering importing one myself and waiting it out.

Those of you who have imported, can you give me a brief overview on your experience, who you used, how long it took and overall impression ?

I'd rather have one over here for 6-7k and then use the 2-3k originally going towards a local one for repairs/maintenance/upgrades.

Much appreciated.
Jesse

I used IBC Japan and was very happy. Bought the truck through their iDirect auction. They offer auction sheet translation before bids and re-grade the vehicles after purchase. www.ibcjapan.co.jp

How long did it take to arrive in Vancouver from the bid/purchase date and did it go RORO or container ?

Thanks Eric. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

BUT - I had requested a delay since I was out of the country for May and June 2006. Also, I had initially asked for RORO and only went to container when IBC wanted to start charging me for the delay.

Thanks for the info.

I spoke with one of their reps last night and they told me they do RORO to New Westminster on a monthly basis and that would be much faster than using the Vancouver/container shipment.

I checked 6 other JDM importer sites and looked at the same auction vehicles. I can't believe the discrepancy in price from one to another.

The one you recommended so far has been the lowest priced CIF to New West and they seem to be very quick to reply and their online chat/skype service works great when I had questions on the fly.

Shot you a PM regarding the bidding process.

Thanks for the recommendation Eric.

I was quite happy with William @ JDMconnection, but I've only the one importing experience. Still, I'd use him again.

Thanks again guys for the recommendations.

Q:

Rear locker.

Does anyone have a stock Mitsu locker on their rig ?

So far, I haven't seen a single one aside from the two at newwestauto.

Any info on what year/model they installed them from factory ?

Thanks,
Jesse

I'd also vote for JDM conn. I've sent several folks to him from here, and all have been pleased.

As far as rear locker, they were available from 91 on (genII style only). Seemed to be a more popular option on the v6 model - I looked long and hard for a dzl with rear locker, but ended up going with LSD, and extra low mileage...(35k kms).

RORO is a frustrating process. You can get bumped anytime by the new cars. I was booked for a couple months in a row, but finally ended up having to stuff it in a seacan. If I do it again (and I will in a few years if the 15 year rule stays around), I will go container again. And I will use jdmconnection.

Anyone used/know of autorec.co.jp ?

They have a pair of Paj's that can be on the next boat. No lockers, but a hell of a lot less $ (4k) than the local glass half-full one's I've seen. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
