I'm not sure what you hardcore guys think of them, but Costco has 33x10.5-15 BFG A/T KOs for $209+tax per tire installed. Seems like the best choice for me at least, since I'm on a tight budget until I start making some headway on the Pajero's debt. From what I've researched, they're a great choice for a daily driver that might see occasional off-road use: my Pajero. There's MUCH better tires than the AT KO's for what you're seeking. Trust me. I loved them and sweared by them for years going from that 1st gen to the latest gen KO's. You're better off getting Bridgestone revo's, Toyo AT's or Geolander AT's. The three mentioned will be night and day in our climate (rainy/slick roads)etc.. Some guys are hardcore BFG-they are the best and would never look at anything else. I was one of them until I starting trying out other tires both on and off road. When I mean off road, I mean logging roads, gravel, loose shale, dirt, dust, mud, everything you get here in BC. Even procomp AT's. Last week we (mechanic and I) tested our theory out. 33x12.5x15 Procomp AT's, Geolander AT's and BFG AT's. He has all three on different sets. (yes, he has a few bucks in his pocket). Our test last week was : raining / after rain / roads and good condition logging roads. Geolander AT was the best on the road while raining and right after it rained (slick). Tires were like glue. You can break out the rear end but the tires would spin a little and then grip easily. Procomp's were close to the geolander's. Very close and much cheaper. BFG AT's were horrible in the rain on the road compared to the other two. I mean not even comparable. If anyone will contest, go ahead. This is the same Jeep (shoot me now), same rims, same tires sizes and all just under 200 km's on the sets. Logging roads, they were all similar. In some slick rainy/potholes, the procomps were better and didn't slide around as much. Pretty much everwhere, the BFG's to put it bluntly sucked compared to the geo's and procomp's. All except for one. When we aired them down to about 8psi and went into crawler mode. The BFG's have the reinforced bead and sidewalls and they were much grippier. Aside from that, I just didn't see any point in grouping the bfg's in with the others. Since I'm shopping for tires too, I'll keep you posted on what I find for the $ value. Jesse

Jesse Thanks Jesse. It's anecdotal info like this that makes the internet such a valuable tool for researching choices in anything! LOL, if I don't find some tires to borrow for next week, (or a shop that'll pass me with JDM tires) I'll be needing a set of 33's in the next few days!

Jesse, you're leaving out one important point - size availability. BFG is the only manufacturer with 33x1050 routinely available. And the difference between 1050 and 1250 width on an underpowered diesel is also night and day, in my experience.
I would also chime in on the testing, by adding that different tires work better at different pressures, and with different weights of vehicles. I have put close to 40k now on my bfgs, and before this I had Procomps. BFG is a much better multi-purpose tire, IMHO, if you adjust the pressure to the terrrain.
But you know what they say about opinions... in any event the point is moot if you want 33x1050s on a 15: for better or worse, BFG is the only game in town.

Hi Phil,
Don't get me wrong. I love the BFG AT's. I have a set 32's on my Jeep (gave to my sister).
I met Duncan and know that he'll be doing the majority of driving on pavement with the occasional excursion.
The BFG AT's are good, but not nearly as grippy in the rain on concrete as the Revo's, Geolanders and procomps regardless of tire pressure.
If you're like me and do 50/50 city/offroading then the BFG's are the way to go.
If you're 70/30 or 90/10 city/wheelin', then the geo's or revo's or even toyo country's would be much better as they are very manageable on slick/wet concrete, whereas the BFG's tend to cut loose more easily.
It's all to each person what they feel is more suitable for their needs.
From what I gather, Clead(Ducan) would take wet road handling over off road handling as a priority in a tire.
If I'm wrong and he's going to be using his new Pajero (lucky bastard ) like I am, then I would recommend either the BFG AT's or the Nitto Grappler's.
You can get the Geo's and Revo's in a 32.5 / 11.5 size which is a tad wider and tad shorter than the BFG 33/10.5's.
To each his own. I'm just voicing an opinion and tossing out actual testing with the same vehicle and different set's of tires.

Happy birthday Jesse! You're older than me by two days!
Ain't no huffin here bud! I'm glad you're not simply blindly accepting the "common knowlege" about BFG being theh best, bar none, etc. Heck, we're wheeling Pajeros, so we obviously aren't listening to the "experts" out there anyways, right?
I wish I could find other tires in the size I'm running, simply for a change if nothing else, but there's no other choice so far...

LOL, must be something about the moon in that week... You and I share the same birthday, Phil! Throw in Jesse today, and there's something very strange going on! As far as tires go, the size issue is on of the reasons I was happy to find those BFG AT KOs for that price. My family mechanic, who operates out of a Goodyear Service shop, quoted mt almost $300/tire for suitable 33x10.5-15 Wranglers! Wet weather and snow performance are more important to me than off-road, as this will be a daily driver and a grocery-getter/weekend family vehicle. But I don't want to go with a large passenger tire. I do want an on-off road tire, leaning more towards on. Call it an 80/20 tire. So, how bad would that BFG AT KO be, seeing as it's one of two (both BFG) tires that TireRack even lists in that size. (I just use them for reference. Great info there!)

BFG AT KO's are not good on our roads when it rains. At least not here in BC.
They cut loose and slide very easily on heavy vehicles such as Cherokee's and Pajero's.
They are also horrible in slushy-snow which is what we get here in the winter.
Guys, I love these tires, but having tried 4 different makes on the same vehicle and actually tested them all, the BFG's are not suited for the wet climate here.
At least not 'as' suited as other tires in the same price/size range.

Too bad. Looking forward to seeing what the $$ is on Geolandar A/Ts. They seem to get rave reviews for wet pavement/snow handling and ok reviews for off-road, which sounds just about right for my needs. I'm pretty sure my off-road will be limited to double-track at the most, probably more fire/FSR roads than anything. Thanks for keeping me from going in the wrong direction!

Looks like autorec pulled through fast enough.
My Paj is scheduled to arrive Aug 9th
31 days turn around from purchase to new west docks.
Until it's actually on the boat, I'm skeptical but from what I've heard and seen, they ship a lot over on almost every boat.
We'll see.
