Need help. This is the second time I removed, hub, etc. to re-tighten the two 54mm nuts that hold my bearing in place. I followed the FSM and that didn't help. I also followed 4x4wire on knuckle rebuild, i.e.,tighten, turn left, turn right, etc. That didn't help. The bearings and races are in good condition. Re-packed them when I did knuckle rebuild. Got the drag to 12ft lbs. What am I missing here before I try for the 3rd time? Thanks.

Are you bending the tabs on the star washer in and out to lock the two nuts in place?

And do you have the large single-toothed thrust washer between the bearing and nuts too? It should go: outer bearing, big flat washer, nut, lockwasher, nut. Then bend the tabs on the lockwasher forward/backward on the inner and outer nuts. How tight are you tightening the outer nut?

is there a chance the races are not pressed in all the way?
Upon re-reading your post, it looks like you only re-packed them so they should be all the way on....

Are you sure the tab in the center of your star lock washer is long enough to positively grab the machined groove in the threads so it won't turn on the shaft? I have seen one that somehow walked it's way out of the groove and into the bottom of the threads... Good luck!
