Glad you are OK!

It definitely looks fixable from the pics... I agree with the advice that even if the insurance company wants to total it you should get it back from them and fix it. Unless you are really opposed to having a salvage title - I know I had an 88 jeep grand wagoneer with a salvage title and it didn't cost extra to insure it. Check with you insurance co.

Not off my red montero you won't!

Glad to hear you're ok! did the wheel get hit on that? or did the cap just fly off?

PS. This isn't the result of not having power steering is it? (I still haven't been to my parents house)

Close call dude, glad you are ok! Relax for the next couple days and have a beer!

I'd check your back door/tire carrier for damage too, looks like from the pictures the toyota hood bent up into the bottom of you spare (see the tire like dent on the drivers side of the hood?). And man your truck looks like it took both hits great. The Toy is a mess, pass airbag deployed probably broke the dash...I might have to start driving my monty more for protection!

Javy,

Glad to hear you are ok. That looks like an afternoon's work to get back on the road. I hope you can work it out with the insurance company.

My diesel mechanic buddy and I pulled the 2.6 motor out of my 87 Montero yesterday. The Mitsu diesel engine comes out of the Ranger next, gets a new rear main seal, clutch and vacuum pump and goes in the Montero.

You need to get your Montero on the road before I'm done with the diesel so we can go wheeling in N.GA!

Body Damage is Cool
Well guys, the insurance adjuster went called me and he said the car is totalled. But when I asked him that based on what criteria he think that the vehicle is a total loss he said "my computer told me" Oh men I went through the roof I asked him what is wrong with the car and he said "Oh the uni-body is damaged and the radiator frame" whaaaaat I looked inside the engine compartment and it is intact, it is only the fender that is crushed and the very tip of the body piece behind the headlight!!! You guys look at the pic and tell me, Oh and check this out: I asked him "How about from behind, what is wrong?" to what he answered "Nothing, it is OK from behind" That is when I went
This )(^&(*^%#^%&&(*(****&%#@@ did not even looked at the car, I bet my neck that he just looked at the mileage 372,000 and he wants to total it. I said NO I want it fixed so they are supposed to call me again.

Commooooon, I am an engineer, show me measurements, show me numbers, statistics, pull your calliper and measuring tape and convince me but don't treat me like I am stupid because I got a Latino accent, OK.

I can get me any new car that I want but you know what? I want my Montero, sound childish, stupid I give a damn. I like my car, I always wanted one and for me my Montero is unique and it is MINE.

But then again they have to get the car out of the wreckers yard and he said that they are going to take it to their insurance yard, "I don't think so" and then have some mysterious thing happen to it? No sir... It is going to my garage...I am so that I feel like sending them to hell and fix it myself and pay for it myself.

Isn't it stupid, they are willing to pay for any medical expense, I mean thanks to God I walked away unharmed and feel great but still they are paying me a rental and will pay for any medical expense. Again i feel great but today I have a medical appointment with a chiropractor, just to make sure, but I feel like my back is about to break and my neck is about to start feeling numb and and what else OHH OUCH I cannot type, I see the light

I am sorry guys that is not me but they are treating me like nothing so they have to bleed from some corner you know.

I was so upset I couldn't sleep last night and got here at the office at 5:30am instead of 7:00am.

But I feel a lot better now, my apology if I was out of line.

Javy,

I can definitely tell from the way you're typing that you must be getting some numbness in your fingers and you may have some nerve damage that will affect your ability to work for the rest of your life.

Make sure that insurance company takes care of you...

Uni-body??? Huh? The Montero has a frame. If you're going to continue down the road with this insurance adjuster I would suggest that you demand to be present when he inspects your vehicle and make sure to talk with him while he is doing the inspection about each and every thing you know was a result of the accident. I believe any insurance adjuster worth their paycheck would not object to this.
