If its hard to get to the plug from the old one to unplug it, it might be easiest if you just cut the wires where you can get at them and then resplice the new one on there to the old wiring and put it on....I would screw it in snug before splicing the wires...that way it will not get all wound up. But should be pretty simple to do and just match up the wires by color. Take extra care to make sure your splices are good and clean....or you will have electrical gremlins.
