Finished what i started last week with my quest to get more air into such a little hole! Long story short, removed ALL stock airbox, filters tubing etc! from the MAF forwards. Clamped on a 6'x3' K&N cone filter. Built a air box using 14 guage stainless to act as a dust/heat shield, the box seals to the hood liner, cut a 2'x5' slot in the wheel arch to draw cool air from underneath and a 1 1/2'x4' slot in the hood and used a small vent cowl painted body colour to act as a rain deflector and to allow the filter to draw cool air in from the top (If anyone is intrested the KIA body colour "Stone Beige" is a 99% match with GM's LT Brier Brown CDSGM331) And now the pictures! ![[Linked Image]](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/2561000-2561999/2561792_16_full.jpg)

Looks SWEET!! Let me know if you see any improvement in fuel mileage. I'm toying with making a snorkel. Speaking of color matches, you have a good one for the white on a 96? Anyway, thanks for the great pics. Everet

Nice work. That takes some guts to initially attempt such an alteration. Right now Im sanding out two deep scratches on the hood and I decided to just make the whole thing black. You know you hit the point of no return---once the first cut is made.
Where did you find that bug deflector?

It's a factory one! Came as an option when I bought the Sporty!

Everet I will post any improvements in gas milage next time I fill up! As for increase in low end power, it is quite noticeable, and the engine revs more freely and higher with an increased top speed of 135kph, where as before I was topping out at 120kph. As for the colour match, I just took off the gas cap door and went into a Canadian Tire, and found the closest match from the selection of rattle can touch-up paint they had, cost $4.99. If I couldn't find a close match i was going to go to the local NAPA, which mixes paint in bombs as long as you have a sample, (gas cap door) they can match it, but they a little more expensive at $29.99

Looks great, like a factory option. I understand the hood "scoop", But dosn't venting in the wheel well ask for crappies to get splashed into the filter? I know my wheel wells stay pretty well sprayed with mud!
