All you guys are just a stone's throw away from needing a new windshield.
And Apple Auto Glass brought in a windshield for a 1992 Montero - and it doesn't fit my '91 Pajero LWB.
Anyone have part numbers out there for it? Anyone want to put together an overseas bulk purchase? Anyone have a resource for one in North America?
I need one now - you will need one soon... talk to me!

IT WHAT? How exactly was it different? Are you sure they didn't bring in the wrong one? Lemme do some diggin on caps and get back to you... Any chance they brought in the 91 (genI) windshield by mistake?

Okay, CAPS Japan shows MB677401 as the pn for the V24WG, I'll assume the V44 is the same... but lemme check that too, hold on.

Okay, some further info: the V24 only has a grey tint option, the V44 has a bronze tint otion as well, MB677400, and has a further note that these pn's fit all models from Oct90, to June93. And they had V6's as well, so I just can't see mitsu retooling glass for a different market. But lemme check CAPs North American to be sure...

Okay, part name code is the same, 61710, but the number is superseded to an MR number, MR749156. I can't see from my program what number it superseded, but its applicable to all models of V43W to V45W, which are the genII 3.0L V6s and 3.5L v6's. Lemme go back and check this number on CAPjaps...

Okay, further info... Japan pn is cross ref'ed to V43W as well, which is consistent with Caps NA. CAPS Japan doesn't recognize the MR number.
But in a nutshell, if a V43W gasser uses a windshield in Japan which is used by our diesel V44w/V24W's, then the V43W's windshield in North America should be the same glass. All the other body panel numbers match that I've checked, between the NA and ***** versions... So my money is on the glass company bringing in the wrong one. According to CAPs, it should be compatible up to 93, which means 94 in North America. If you can Ron, have a look at what they brought in. If its flatter-looking than yours, then my guess is they have a genI windshield there.
Keep us updated, yo!
Hope something here helped, Phil

wow Phil...you seemed pretty concerned hahaha. yah that just doesn't make sense that it doesn't fit. common sense tells you it would fit...its the exact same body style so theoretically there is no way it shouldn't fit.

Well, my windshield is already done, so yeah, little concerned. And Ronnie's a good guy and I hate to see him spending more money if he doesn't have to... let's hope he doesn't have to... P

well of course. we don't want to see one of our pajero brotherin get in a bind. Ron you should try Standard Auto Glass up beside Carline Muffler. I just got a windshield put in my 89 colt and they had no troubles getting it. I was worried because in 1989 there was 2 different style dodge colts. and they use PPG glass which is the only glass I'll ever buy.

Okay, so Phil, where can one gain access to this CAPS program? "CAPS" is short for Canadian Auto Parts Search, eh? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
