I would replace the oil pump and water pump while your doing it also. You dont want to have to tear back into that stuff after you put it back on.

Yeah so I have learned. My computer also decided to take a holiday so I had no way of accessing those of you with the experience and knowledge I so badly needed. I regret to say that I have had this poor old girls topend striped bare. Not once on not even twice. a total of five times now. I started thinking headgasket. then noticed the broken topmost bolt of the chain tensioner. next a rounded sprocket. And then realize that the head was infact cracked.(minor bonus, found a great starion head) finailly decided to replace the oil pump Just cause( water is still good) this final time no dist. adjustment!!!I put it back together.Partially in the dark. And not even two revolutions she fired. smooth as a babys....shut it down for the night. slept well! nest morning fired it up.sMOOOOOTH. warmed and ready I started off around the block. bang bang bang bang. I almost left it.

Thanks for the hope that all is not lost. silent shaft be gone.....wish me luck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
