over heat question

hey all, rebuilt motor fired up first try could not beleive it. but it over heats on me, I removed the thermostate and still over heats, there is no fan shroud do you think that would make a differnce? any ideas? -Rob -florida

Take the radiator cap off and turn ON the heater; it'll allow the coolant to flow thru the entire system to burp the air out of there. Put the front end on a couple of 2x4 scraps or an incline; air will find its way to the highest point.
Yep, the fan shroud directs the air aft around the engine while it's standing still.

thanks I still have to fix the blower motor it does not work yet either.

You don't need the blower on to burp the air from cooling system. As long as the control valve works and is on "hot" you should be good to go.

x 2; the blower has nothing to do with it; the heater control valve for the core is what you're after; put it on 'hot/red'
