I have noticed a coolant leak and an oil leak that seem to have come out of nowhere. The coolant may possibly be coming from a faulty water pump gasket. Does this sound reasonable or is it a stretch? I don't know where the oil is coming from. The leak is not terrible, but seems like it's been there for a while as the oil pan is covered with the burnt oil sludge . Is there a common problem with Samurai's that could explain this mystery oil leak?

Coolant... where does it seem to be coming from? (a few possibilities) It is possible the o-ring around the water pipe is dying (back of water pump).

Oil... where on the pan? Could be crank seal up front, but until you take off the timing cover you won't know if it was the crank or the cam. See how high the splatter is under the timing cover. Could also be as simple as an old pan seal that is just a leaker. Wash it off and keep an eye on it. Report back with findings...

Hard to say about the coolant but a couple of common leaks for oil was the oring for the distributor housing to head and the other is the fuel pump. When they start going bad you will get oil out of the 90 deg. vent tube coming off of it.
