Hey guys, are you all changing the filter with each oil change, or every other change? Not sure what the stock interval and recommendation is. I change the oil every 5000kms and so far I've done 2 changes at $27 a filter, it's getting expensive!


Research has shown that you will do better by changing the oil every second time you change the filter, not the other way round.

I recall reading an article where two Opel 4-cyl engines were run for 180000 kms with the one changing oil and filter as per spec and the second had only filters changed.

The wear patterns at the end of the test were similar.
