I was glad to see this thread up here this week because I was having a problem with my fan, too... Sunday morning as we are pulling out of a campground, I turned on the AC in the truck and it made an awful racket, like something is hitting the blades and there was a bit of a burning smell when I put it on high. However, it ran more or less OK at the lowest setting making the trip home tolerable. <unfortunate foreshadowing> I joked to the kids that maybe something crawled in there and died </unfortunate foreshadowing>.

Monday morning the same symptoms. That afternoon the same plus a funny smell, vaguely of fish. That night I opened it up and found that a mouse had made a very poor choice in locating his new nest... Poor little guy, he must have moved in during the day Saturday while the truck and campsite sat unattended while we were out.

Maybe that's why they call it a ...

On the upside, we got 23mpg on the trip from the flatlands up into the Smokies. Not exactly hypermiling, but kept it around 65, tires at 45 psi, and sort of drafted semis (2 car lengths) a bit. Not bad for a truck with 200K!
