Lee why not just shave a bit off the head bolts ?

That's a start - and it's the answer to bolts that are too long - BUT - the second issue is the possibility that there's not enough threaded length cut onto the bolt shank and the bolts can bottom out at the TOP of the threads.

Be prepared to take several hours to check and adjust if you want to do the job correctly.

Yes, Cometic makes head gaskets for boost applications - $145/pair for the basic set, but can be had in various custom thicknesses:

I haven't yet tried those, but I might on my upcoming rebuild.... I first need to find out more about the best way to prep the block for installation. I suspect deck resurfacing will be required to get a good seal with Cometic gaskets.

For a stock 3.0L rebuild, all that's needed is the OE gasket.... it's very good.... less than $100/pair, but they're included in an OE gasket package at $217 list, that can be bought for $165 (+ shipping) online through:

Some have used Felpro. If you use Felpro, the PermaTorque version is probably the best choice.

Examine the deck for flatness. I've recently seen the need to examine closely for etching. If the block needs to be decked, the service spec allows for no more than .008" removed from heads and deck COMBINED! Check the heads for straightness and thickness - OE spec thickness is 3.310". Check the exhaust valve guides in particular... heat causes them to loosen.
