If that's a 22RE in the '88, the FSM for the 93 in the FSM's sticky'd here should be pretty close for ya.

Follow our FAQ above to format your picture sizes.

Thanks, looks like I'm going to need an actuator. Anyone happen to have a pic which would show what this looks like installed?

On formatting picture size- I only saw sizing guidelines for the graphic in a signature. Not sure what you're referring to?

Thanks again for the help,

I've re-done my picture. Both hoses connect to the device circled in yellow on the manifold. The port farther from the body has yellow arrows & the closer one has red.

I'll try to get a better picture tomorrow.

I'll have to upload some pics to my site and link them.

I confirmed that the plug is the A/C idle up switch, checked the wiring schematics and the colors match.

What I can't find is any diagram for the vacuum hose routing . Anyone have a diagram or an '88 with A/C? I do have a plug in the side of the intake plenum, is there another device which goes there in an A/C equipped vehicle? My wife's '95 is too different to use as an example.

Here is how my '85 is set up:

One hose to the intake manifold and the other the the idle up valve:

Thanks guys. On my wife's '95 that port and a very similar device is hooked up to the power steering, I'd assume to idle up when turning at idle speed?

I assume the 3rd line ties into the intake after the MAF?

Thanks again for the help,

I don't know if it changed since 85, but mine is an 87 & both hoses go to the idle up valve. The second image shows the power steering hookup.

This is the underhood sticker from the 87, it's not real clear, but pretty sure the dotted AC lines are the ones we are dealing with.

Thanks for the pics, that's very helpful. So if I'm seeing this right, one of the power steering lines and one of the A/C idle up lines each run to the actuator. Right now my power steering runs from right before the throttle plate and returns on the manifold with no other devices involved.

Anyone have a spare they want too part with (actuator)? Dealer probably wants $300 for one.

Thanks a lot for those pics.

I color coded the hoses on this pic to make it easier to see:\
Yellow goes from the Plenum to power steering sender
Green from PS sender to actuator
Red from actuator to just in front of throttle plate
Purple & Blue both go directly between the VSV & the actuator. The pic seems pretty clear on those.
