Diesel SUV and small truck for USA

They say that they will sell these in the USA late 2008 or early 2009. I wounder if they will come to Canada. The price that they talk about sound pretty good and the power, torque and gas mileage sounds great. I like the looks of the Grey/Black SUV.

One too many http's in your link. http://www.gv-usa.com/

Looks like a cross between a Kia front and a Pajero rear.

Thanks Redull I probably should have checked that. I like the looks of the SUV and the trucks aren't bad either.

I wonder if they'll really start to sell them. Without knowing much of the legal side of getting into the car business, I think the internet age sure makes it easier to sell a "boutique" automotive product.

For the USA, I'd say they have about a 10% chance of clearing all of the hurdles required to get a diesel SUV imported legally.

Several companies have tried it over the past ten years and failed. (Crosslander was the most recent failure)

I hope they succeed though.

Holy smokes, it's Perez trying again... this time with Mahindra. (Perez is the same guy who tried to bring the Crosslander in)

I'll up the percentage now. I'd say there is a better than 50% chance he'll get the cars in. He took some really hard knocks trying to get this working with the Crosslander so if he's trying again, he probably has it figured out.

I'll probably buy one of the SUVs for my wife if the quality looks good.

The Mahindra range has been around in South Africa for quite a few years now.

Nobody take them seriously (as off-roaders, that is), but their low prices give them a place in the market.

I took one for a test drive and won't swop the brand new Mahindra SUV for my 17 yr old Gen1.

Don,

Actually, one gets a lot for the price. Here is SA, the diesel SUV costs about half the price of the Gen3 Pajero. It is a matter of opinion whether two Mahindras make a Mitsubishi?

The build quality is definitely not that of a Mitsubishi.
Rumour has it that the engine was designed for Mahindra by Peugeot, but I cannot vouch for that. The local dealer says there are very few come backs on the engines (but one would expect him to say that).

The second hand value for all the Indian vehicles (Mahindra and Tata) are very low in SA.
