Getting the Wheeling Fever

alright...i got my new motor in and my wife has been driving the truck for a few weeks. here's the issues:
odb code for random/multicylinder misfire. if i clear the codes, it runs well...after a while it starts to accelerate inconsistantly and the code comes back...its like the throttle's not responsive...additionally, when the code comes back the transmission starts shifter really hard and acts like its slipping b/w 2nd and 3rd under heavy throttle...
thoughts?
also the sending unit in the fuel tank is bad...do i need a whole new pump (like the dealer says?) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />
