Body Damage is Cool
Well, I did a body lift on the Sportage and when I removed the front bumper, there are these two interesting looking "things" that look like they might contain something (sensor??) or do something if the bumper is hit hard enough. I may want to attach something to them or remove them. Does anyone know what function they perform?

Yes, my 96 has steering wheel airbag. Was wondering what is inside these blocks?

those post are for the chassis ....they are part of the crumple zone on the front of the bumper area.....dont smack em with a hammer because the airbag sensor is not in them but close by......

My body lift was done a while ago and I did not pay any attention to that . My battery was not connected of courses---My air bags work fine theses days. (just be sure to put everything back the way it was ).

Hope they're not too important. I cut mine off with the drimmel so I could lit my bumper after the body lift!

I tried to check this on line but all kia parts servers are down tonight for some reason, so I could not check to see if this is the photo or not, my parts book show the outter blocks as BRKT. Initiator Assy # 0K08E38790 and the inner ones as a BRKT-Condenser # 0K04538751A I would not hit a Kia with a hammer the check eng. light might come on and give a code somewhere else on the thing, and not for the airbags but then who knows the bags might go off too I feel like hard wiring my OBDII Scanner so I can just push erase all the time. JUST FOR YOUR INFOR.
