the bumpers i made mounted to that, plus the front most body mount plate (top and front side). it's pretty sturdy, but i wouldn't trust it alone, to hold a winch under a heavy pull or even to hold together in a wreck. and it's a good place to bolt a bumper on. i would leave them unless you plan to weld a custom bumper to the frame (in other words, something stronger than just bolting one on).
