I'm going to replace the fuel filter on my wifes 2000 Sporty, but don't know which fuse to pull (to run the engine and let off the pressure). The sticker on the box lid is gone -- likely removed by the guy who last replaced the filter.
Which fues do I need to pull?????
Thanks.

Just take the cable off the battery. That way all the power is off. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I need to run the engine with the fuel pump off so that I can reduce the gas line pressure and get the gas line connections loose, taking off the battery terminal will not do that.
I need to know what fuse to take out.
Thanks for any help.

There is no separate fuse just for the fuel pump. The "main" fuse in the fuse box in the engine compartment is the proper fuse BUT pulling it with the engine running will also shut down the ECM which will shut off the engine before the fuel pressure is relieved.
The proper method for relieving the fuel pressure as per the FSM is as follows:
With the engine idling disconnect the fuel pump wiring harness located in the panel under the rear seat. Allow engine to stall. Fuel pressure is now relieved.
1998 Sportage - Gone. 2004 Honda Civic Coupe. 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara - She got it.

You are mistaken, there certainly is a separate fuse for the fuel pump, it is in the passenger compartment fuse box on the left hand wall of the driver's side, down by your left foot. The diagram you posted there is not for a 2000 Sportage, either. My fuel pump fuse blew there, when the wiring got smashed under the rear seat! Of course, car wouldn't run without that fuse.
