I've searched through lots of posts, and primarly saw discussion of maximum RPM depending on mods, etc-. I've seen the stock redline is around 5750, with various rev limits programmed into the ECU in later years.

I have an MSD 6AL, and need to get a "pill" for it. My setup is a 22RTE short block with a 22RE head and mild cam (not sure exact specs). I'm not looking to have a screaming drag racer, I just want a nice safe setting for offroad use (sand and other instances where over reving may occur).

Would 5800 be safe? Should I go lower?
