Nervous about the shifter stuff. Is modification of the shifters necessary?

the body lift was actually fairly easy. just undo the ps res and i also undid the fuel filler hoses. went really well. took under an hour on the driveway with a high lift.
when doing the front lift, if you didnt get the slotted "pucks" just be careful and closely watch all the lines etc till you get to the proper height.
drive around and find some rough stuff for a couple days and get back under and retighten all the nuts.

I ordered the slotted pucks but did'nt look at them when they arrived - hope I got them <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />. Where did you position the hi-lift when lifting? What did you do regarding the shifters?

I like my BFG ATs. I got 75000 miles on the first set (30x9.50x15s on 15x7s). I just went to 31x 10.50s on the same wheels. The ATs work great in snow and sand and good in mud. Dennis

i have yet to do anything with the shifters . i just left the trim panel off for now which lets me get in and out of 4x4. dont forget 2 heavy duty zip ties really tight around the shift boots to keep them from slipping off all the time, so you dont get water inside.
for the back 4 blocks i basically used a block of wood and lifted the entire back end from just to the side of the middle. put in the 4 back blocks, left the nuts off, then lifted the same way from the front to do the front four. then put it back down, pushed it around a bit to get everything to seat properly then did up the nuts.

When I did my body lift I didn't use a high lift. I didn't want to bend anything.
I used two standard lift jacks like the Sportage came with positioned under each side just inside the frame rails and about at the mid point. I placed 2 12 inch long 4x4 blocks under the jack side by side to give it a wider base. Then I put another 4x4 block on top of the jack to spread out the weight of the body so it wouldn't bend the floor.
This setup worked great and I could use either jack to tip or tilt the vehicle to get the bolts to line up.

Logansportage <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the input <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />. By doing it this way do I still have to remove the bumper covers?

Yes you have to undo both bumpers. You will be able to re-attach the rear bumper by drilling 2 holes in the mounting bracket and use only the lower 2 studs. I put a different front bumper on but I think logansportage cut off the crumple things and then somehow reattached his front bumper. On the rear, my rear bumper is only being held on by only 2 of the 4 studs. Seems ok so far.
Good luck, Everet <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Yes, like Everet said you have to remove both the front and rear bumpers. If not, when you lift the body it stresses them enough to rip through the plastic.
I drilled new holes for both the front and rear so it would look stock, but higher.

Thanks guys <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. Looks like it will prolly be a couple weeks before I get this done(life is tooo busy <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />).
Mr. Logansportage - any chance you got any pics of your bumpers after the BL?
When I finally get to work on mine I'll try to take lots of pics along the way <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />.
