Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I got new wheel cylinders, rear shoes, and turned the drums and I'm ready to go. NOPE

First the wheel cylinders are not properly machined so the washers hit the wheel cylinder before it is secured in place and then I check the shoes in the drums and find that if touching in the center of the shoe that there is a .045in gap at each end. Yes I went to Autoz@*& and I knew better.

It turns out that one of the wheel cylinders I took out was also manufactured like these were.

Anyway, I need a good source for parts that WILL fit as they should. It seems that nobody in town caries the parts so I will need to order no matter what, local or internet. Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

When it comes to brakes I only use OEM, I have had to many problems with aftermarket crap.

This place has pretty good prices on OEM parts.

Thanks

Looks good if they have what you want. I was not able to find the shoes only wheel cylenders but it is a start.

I assume that you have ordered from them so my question is are they REAL Toyota parts or re-labled? Have to ask...

I've purchased from here as well... shipping is cheaper for most items than the one here in Dallas. Excellent customer service, genuine Toyota parts.

To be honest if there is only .04" gap i really would not be to worried about the shoes, rear toyota brakes dont really work anyway, and that high spot will wear down and the shoes will seat properly with no damage and full braking effect. That is the reasons brakes require around a 500 mile break in period for eveything to seat down properly.

I'm not really picturing what you are saying about the wheel cylinders and washers, are the bolts holes in the cylinder not deep enough causing the cylinder to ride loose on the backing plate? If thats the only problem i would either get shorter bolts or use multiple or a thicker washer under the head of the bolt on the back of the backing plate until the wheel cylinder sits tight.?
