This is the only diesel I've ever had, and that is just my opinion. Short trips are hard on any engine as you know, but I just know what mine is like to start on a cold morning, so I think short trips would be harder on it, since It doesn't fully warm up.

As far as remote starters, I have a starter/alarm combo sitting on my shelf in the back porch, just haven't had it put in yet... When I do, I'll let you know.
