My Gen II with the 3.0L gas V6 would get 19-20 on the highway and about 17-18 mixed driving. With diesel running about $.24 more than regular unleaded here in UT, doesn't seem worthwhile to get (or convert for us in the US) to diesel.

Is it because the Gen II is so heavy that the mileage isn't better? I know the Jeep Liberty with the 2.8L CRD (only small SUV with diesel here) gets about 27-30 MPG (or 7.9-8.7 L/100 km) and it weighs about the same as a Gen II LWB.
