After putting on a CAI a few weeks ago, I've had a chance to run a few tank of gas thru it to see what the milage is! In short it sucks goats! While I'd say the good side is you get at least an extra 10 HP, a whole bunch of wheel spinning low end tourqe, the ablity to pass people on the highway with 30' tires on, and 5th gear is now a usable option The down side is it sucks gas! Before the CAI with the stock air box and 30' tires I was getting 450 to 470KM per 40L fill, (actual numbers were 11.62KM per Litre.) With the CAI and the same 30' tires I'm now only getting 370 to 390KM per 40L fill, (actuall numbers are 9.44KM per Litre.) In short im getting roughly 80km less per tank! When winter comes and I take of the 30' tires and put the smaller 26' ice tires on I'll also be putting the stock air box back! But don't worry, they'll both be back next spring!

If my limited knowledge on this system is somewhat correct, I'm guessing that the colder intake air, whilst improving combustion efficiency, also tricks the airflow sensor into thinking that there is more air flowing than there actually is which might in turn increase the amount of fuel going through the injectors. Maybe that's why the CAI improves power, not because of better air but richer fuel mix?? Does anyone concur?

u,d be right mate......air flow meter is sensing that there is more air available and it tells the computer that it needs more fuel to burn the increase in air ......to combat this u can wire in a resistor to the coolant temp sensor and that way u can lean of the fuel mixture when u are cruising dont ask me what size and how u do it cause i have to check and find out.....

I put a cone air filter on mine and I got better performance and mileage. Granted, it is not a cold air intake, since it's getting engine bay air, but still. Odd, that is. yes, odd, that is very!
