There was a thread around Jan this year. I replied to it. My pullies were from Autozone. I think they were around 16.00 each. 48 hr delivery.

If the tensioners just need the bearings, see if grainger or an industrial supply can get them. The pulleys are usually ok, it's the bearings that give out on em. Give that a try, may save ya some moolah what ? have they seized, or making noise or what ? perventative maintenance ? it is my alternator bearing (I guess) that are screaming ....and big mean dogs hear it and start to chase me. Has anyone changed those bearings? I looked at the manual, and it appeared do-able. I am afraid I will get it apart and need a special tool to get it back together

I'll cross this number to a NAPA # when I get to work, and order one from ATL if I don't have one in stock. I'll also check to see if there is one that is a more direct replacement (ie no washers) I'll post up the info later today.

There should be some numbers on the bearings that can be cross refenced at some place like Applied Industrial, Motion Industries, Grainger, even McMasterCarr.

AFAIK Volkswagen 4-cyl tensioner pulleys are identical.

I crossed the Goodyear # to a NAPA TEM 38042. With the five M10 washers behind it, it does work. I just put it on mine and ran it for a bit. The only concern is the lack of inner lip. Doesn't appear to be necessary, though. The grooves are located and tracked by the crank, fan and alternator If there's any way this thread can be archived for future reference, that'd be great.

The contact surface of the pully for the belt is slightly convex and is enough to keep the belt centered. Sure beats the dealer charges doesn't it!!!!!
