So this works on the Gen2 as well? I'd only done it on Joni the Gen1 3.0. Those belts tracked true for about 15k miles, IIRC, before I parked her. They also kept the nice sharp edge on both sides, and didn't fray at the side flange. I also note that 'cause the running surface is convex with a curvature who's radius is about equal to the radius of the pulley, so any mild bearing wear and resulting tilt of the pulley is compensated for, and the belt rides the same as it did new, which it likes a lot.
NAPA can order direct from the goodyear catalog, or at least my "used to be a NAPA" good old local parts house could. I think I paid about 16 or so, too. Goodyear made an elegant pulley. Wonder what asian mfr they buy it from. Tell me it ain't so....

I was hesitant to go that route with my GenII, but if someone can confirm that it worked on a GenII, I'll give it a shot. Otherwise I'll probably just wait and order from mitsubishiparts.net since my new mechanic is soooo cheap, I might be able to swing those. Although seeing as how his las few posts were about 2 of his rigs blowing up, I'm a little nervous.

Is the belt routing a GenII 3.0 different from the GenI? If it's not, then I don't see any reason why it won't work.

It LOOKS the same from the pictures I've seen posted here, but I'm MR (mechanically retarded), so my opinion should be ignored.
I'm going to go ahead and pick up a pair of either the Napa or Goodyear pulleys tomorrow. Cmonty, thanks for the offer to send me yours! So I'm going to be the first guy to try these on a GenII? Coooool.

Fitted them on my Shogun (MkII) back in Jan/Feb, not too sure as I've had a few tins since
Anyway, have not had a problem with them, tho' the stealer looked at them long & hard when I called in to get the codes read (O2 sensor failed as a result of some bad fuel)
Go for it, they are still cheeper than OEM even with shipping to the UK & a 6pack to a friend for his trouble.

My 91 gen1 and 93gen2s are the same, both 3.0s. Get some cheap ones. I had a Mitsu one and a cheap one on my flooded raider. The cheap one still turns (sealed bearings), Mitsu one is rusted shut (newer style I thought were sealed).
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

While at the movies a little while ago, a GenII was parked next to me when I went to leave. The driver was in it, idling. I asked if I could look under his hood. He looked at me kinda funny and then we got to talking and I told him why I wanted to look... yada yada. Anyway, the belt routing on his was the EXACT same as mine. He has the same belt number on the serp as me (did the cross-ref in my head) So, I see no reason at all why they won't work on yours Stony. They literally took me about 10 minutes to change both of mine. 1 nut, loosen the the tensioner head bolt, slip the belt off. Loosen the idler bolt. Reverse for installation. You can do that!!! I BELIEVE I have about 40 miles on my set-up now and it's made a difference in the noise level and I can definitely see the benefit in having the bearings sealed as opposed to the OE design.

I will bring the idlers off my SR when I come up keith if I have a chance to remove them. They were nice and quiet during the short while I was driving that truck.. I'll be happy to pass them along if you can't find any new ones.
I don't mean to be anal about replacing them.. but if yours are original there is nothing wrong with a little PM and a nice quiet motor in a truck. Plus.. with deleting the cost of labor, it makes it worth doing all the PM you can.

If you get time, bring 'em...I'll BUY them. The guy at NAPA said he had no clue what an M10 washer was...I figured I can see what size I need once I get the old pulleys off.

Good grief Tell him the Rockford # is 2808-010. It's just a flat washer for a 10mm Metric bolt, gosh. It ain't rocket science. You'll need 10 of them, as well as the (2) 38042 pulleys.
