I am not sure what part of North Carolina you are in but the 2 big hot spots in NC are (and one outside of NC):

Uwharrie National Forest/Badin Lake Recreation Area
-Best suited for Mild to Moderate Wheeling, with some pretty challenging areas. A rig with 33"+ and lockers should be able to tackle all trails (including Daniel). But there is fun to be had for even stock rigs.

Upper Tellico OHV Area/Murphy NC
-There are only a few trails for slightly modified vehicles. It is recommended to at LEAST have 31" tires, 33" Preferred. If your going on anything like Helicopter Pad, Guard Rail etc at least 35/37"s and up. Lockers are also a big help here.

Callalantee OHV/Mountian City TN
-Located right outside of NC Callalantee is a popular OHV area, and not just for ATV's (the link). There are tons of trails with varying difficulties. There are trail maps available there, but they can be sketchy and misleading. So having a GPS unit or a friend with that knows the trails is a good idea.
