I recently added a few new gizmos to my T100.

I recently purchased a Scangauge II to give me additional trip meters, digital gauges for battery voltage, coolant & air intake temps, etc. and a Scan tool. Just plug it into OBD II and it displays any readings you chose. Pretty slick -

I also recently installed a RAM Laptop Mount in the truck. This allows me to use my laptop on the road with mapping software for navigation, Wi-Fi access, downloading photos, watching DVD's and a pdf of the Factory Service manual complete with OBD codes in conjunction with the Scangauge.

The base bolts to the two passenger side seat bolts, no drilling required. They don't make one for the T100 (of course....) but measurements showed that their model for the Toyota Sienna would fit the T100 as well. Their triple swing arm and tele-scoping pole, allows the mount to be used by passenger or driver at various angles and heights making it very versatile and unobtrusive for the passenger.

I also ordered a quick disconnect that will allow me to pull the telescoping pole and laptop tray off, leaving just the base. It's on backorder and not in the following pics. Oh and I got new set of Rancho 9K's but no other pics, they're just shocks.

Another great addition for this time of year is a shower. After a hot and dusty day on the trail it's nice to rinse of the funk and kick back with a coldie. I purchased a Zodi Extreme Shower kit for showering on the go. Fill it with water, (approx 2.5 gallons) and heat it on a camp stove or attach a bottle of propane to the base burner. A thermometer on the can displays the water temp so no scalding or too cold showers. Simply pump it once or twice to pressurize, (no batteries or power required) and rinse away the day. It came with it's own gear bag for storage as well. This is a great addition for your female or child passengers too.

And just a couple other things. I ordered from Cabelas this collapsable camp toilet chair. No in action pics because that would be gross. But it works great, folds up small and can double as an extra camp chair if necessary. Also from Cabelas I ordered a Porta Privy tent for private showers and bathroom use. No in action pics either because that would be even more gross.

And that's how I spent my tax return and birthday money this year. These tools/toys will enable me to enjoy my forays into the backcountry even more and they offer my passengers even more comfort and convenience during the all important camping season.

Hey that is neat. I have been trying to play with pcmscan to see what parameters this ecu will report.

Something they might not tell you is the ecu might run differently when it's being queried by a scantool.

Are those the factory sport seats? I really need a console.

what are those little blue things in your vents? and is pulling something off of the OBDII full time ok for the circuit?

I like that ScanguageII, especially the digital guages feature. I just might have to buy one...

You've sure got a lot of extra doodads added to your dash!!!

And FWIW, the WAG bags sold for the PETT toilets work great for any camp toilet like that (gels/solidifies the waste and eliminates the odor). "Friends of the Rubicon" gives them away on big weekends up there. Or you can just buy the "Pooh Power" separately.

I've used regular trash bags before, and no matter how tight you tie them or double bag them, the odor still seems to get out...

It's an air freshener

OBD doesn't care if you read the circuits continuously.

Hey Creeper, I have the same camper on my T and it is great. I installed a H2O heater in it and an outside shower and it works great.
That truck of yours is sweet!

Do you know if the Scangauge gives any info from the automatic transmission?

That's a lot of electronic gear in a small space. Do you have any problems with interference between any of the systems or the systems and you AM/FM (if you still use it)?

A few answers -

- Yes, those are the factory sport seats, best in the business IMO. I've got a Tundra console to sell. See pic & price here.

- Yup, the blue things in the vents are air freshners. .99 cents at WalMart and almost worth the money.

- OBD II seems to be fine pulling info constantly. That's the idea of the Scangauge, a fulltime reader. So far so good. Another benefit is the ease of swapping it from one vehicle to another, that's why I didn't tuck the cable behind the dash. I put it in the gf's Honda Pilot for a 200 mile trip to Utah this weekend for accurate MPG readings. Worked great in her car too.

- There was a great review of the Scangauge II in the May/June '07 issue of 4WD Toyota Owner magazine. A little more in depth than my comments. It retails for $169.99 but I got in on a group buy for $140 w/ free shipping. Cheaper than any other auxillary gauges plus it has Scan tool capabilities and 4 trip meters for tracking mileages and fuel usage.

- The Scangauge does not measure or display tranny temps. A hot running tranny in Death Valley last November is what got me looking for an additional gauge display. However Scangauge does intend to add that feature this summer. From an email I received -

"Don't worry, any new features we add to the ScanGaugeII can be added to yours. We are working on an interface accessory for the ScanGaugeII. If you buy the interface, it includes an upgrade of the ScanGaugeII that adds the interface program to it. It will also add any new features at that time.

The interface is a unit with memory and processing power itself. It has a cable that plugs into the unused connector on the ScanGaugeII and another that plugs into a USB port on a computer. They don't have to both be plugged in at the same time.

The interface will use SD Cards for data storage. You can plug it inot the ScanGauge for logging and for other upload/download tasks. It can be removed from the vehicle and taken to a computer for data transfers.

The ScanGaugeII has all the hardware needed for the interface, but will need an upgrade of its program to use it. The Upgrade is free when you purchase the interface.

Price has not been finalized yet. It is expected to be under $100. This will also include the software for a windows based computer.

I will send you an e-mail when it is to be offered for sale."

- Copy that on the WAG bags Erik. The chair came with a roll of 10 trash bags and once they're gone, I'll "upgrade" to the real deal.

- Jimmythec, I'd love to see a pic of your truck and FWC combo! I'm only aware of 2 T100/FWC outfits, mine included. If you're looking for a forum for good Four Wheel Camper info and owners, check out WanderTheWest.com

- No interference between the systems although I only use the factory radio via the XM Satellite radio. Generally the XM is always on, occasionally the CB is on and the laptop so far while driving, has only been used so Jr. could watch "Cars" and "The Incredibles", on a recent road trip to Colorado. So far no interference. I'd like to add an inverter next as my triple prong cig outlet looks like a little cluttered with the laptop, XM and cell phone charger all plugged in at once.

Really. It's almost embarassing.... I'm going for a Mini-Norad look. I would really like to incorporate some of these doodads into a custom overhead console but that's still just in the planning stages. Here's a pic of the full meal deal including the Cobra 75WX CB radio in place -

I orignally wanted to mount the Scangauge on the left side of the steering wheel, just above the dash light dimmer knob, but it was a hair too big for that spot, even though it's only about the size of a Snickers candy bar. It's best viewed straight on, as the display fades at an angle. Where it is now keeps it shaded and easily readable in bright daylight. It's also backlit with adjustable versions of green, blue and orange to match factory gauge displays at night. Pretty cool.
