What would be involved in doing a swap from V6 LWB LHD to something like this? I know you would want the computer, but what else? Anybody done a swap similar to this?

if you'll try hard, for this money you can get the whole truck from Japan!

Search for posts by Boertjie. He swapped one of these in a Gen I. Had a pretty good write-up on it IIRC.

Really? Do you have any site suggestions or contacts?

Good info Thx, will do. Can anybody answer as to what it takes to import one of these JDM Pajero's into the US? I've been reading a bunch of stuff on it and it seems very convoluted to say the least. You Canucks seem to have it down pat Do ya'll know if any US guys have imported one successfully? Or is it easier to import one from Japan to Canada then to the States?

Unfortunately, you can't.

The US has a 25 year import rule whereas Canada has it set at 15 years at the moment. I say at the moment because politicians are pushing legislation to change it to 25 years just like you guys in the US. They did this in Australia not too long ago when the JDM market started to boom.

1/2 cuts and engines you can import no problem.

... good.. bad.. I'm the guy with the gun.

I looked at the item as advertised.

The transplant should be reasonably simple, since the drive-train is complete. Engine/tranny mountings would be the only major fabrication.

Budget to have prop shafts modded to suite.

Radiator on your vehicle is adequate.

If you are going to fit the inter-cooler, you will have to install a scoop in the bonnet.

Would a hood scoop from a JDM Pajero with the intercooler have a scoop that would work?

Would have to be 93+ with 2.8, since early genII 2.5 hoods were double-walled, with the intercooler air duct is at the top of the grille.

Everyone may already know this but the MMC parts guy (Capalaba, QLD OZ) told me that the 4M40 conversion is relatively simple, but one should try and get a trans at the same time because the newer trans is stronger. He says the 4M40s are stronger and more reliable than the 4D56s (chain drive instead of timing belt).
