Warenty is 3 years and 50,000 miles. I'm coming up on 2.5 years, with 35,000 miles.

I talked with Isuzu 'customer care' (Allise), and they gave me case#: 07178002. She said, what do you want Isuzu to do. I said, replace the engine, as this is the reported case anyone knows of. The dealer has to agree with the recommendation.

I called the dealer, and reminded them of it's history. He said Oregon has bad gas, and causes carbon. I said but I'm doing everything you recommend, Chevron gas, and injector cleaner every other tank. It's still there, and making other issues, too This engine does not have a carbon 'problem', it has a cronic carbon buildup issue. I'm outraged that the fix for this appears to be cleaning passages (either myself or a dealer), every 5000 miles.

We talked about the ERG circuit, and the PCV circuit, both of which could let oil into the chamber and cause carbon. Then I mentioned it was 'sipping oil'. The service manager agreed that oil by the guides could cause carbon, and the issue with the cat. I said how do you rule out leaking guides? He said, compression test, and leak down. I said, that only tests teh pressure in the chamber, when the valves are closed. You can not test guides with any pressure test, as they are on the other side of the chamber. Ummmmmm, we do what Isuzu tells us to do, was the responce.

Then I said, I've had this vehicle in 3 times in 35000 miles, for the same issue. I would not have bought it, had I known it was an issue, and it's not in the mantinance schedule. Further, it costs me $120 in (cheap) rental car fees evey time I bring it in. I asked if I need to buy a beater car to drive while my NEW car was in the shop all the time... He said they'll get us a car. I said thanks, very much.

In short, I really don't have a problem with the dealer. I believe they are the middle man in this. THey appear resaonable and forthcoming. In fact, of all the places I've bought cars, I'd buy from them again. I'm afraid my 3 years are going to laps, and I'll be stuck digging out carbon at evey oil change. This does not excite me at all.
