Not sure if this applies to Toyota or not but some mfr's put a spacer between the mounting surface and the fuel pump so that the lobe on the little cam that runs the pump wont over compress the arm. I don't remember what kind of vehicle it was but some one I know was eating up fuel pumps pretty fast. So fast that he actually always carried 1 or 2 spares until one day he figured it out when he was looking under the hood of some one else's truck and then that was the end of his fuel pump woes. Its worth looking into?
