Actually with the spacer, I would think it would affect the tension the fuel pump lever would have against the lobe (sorry, can't remember the proper term)

It's weird you're going thru them tho'-- I replaced my first one at 192K; diaphragm died. My NAPA replacement is still goin' strong.
