Getting the Wheeling Fever
Has anyone used this on the 3.0L V-6? I am thinking of doing a treatment on my 02 Montero Sport since I am at 88K, and plugs have to be done at 90K.

Is there a good place to get it in the intake? Perhaps you have comments?

Thanks!

Are you going to pressurize the Seafoam into the intake so that it atomizes properly, or just do a drip type set up? I've used BG products to clean the upper injection system. I like BG's pressurized rig, yields better results IMHO, because you can vary the pressure as needed to give more or less as desired. There are even some systems that go inline and in place of the fuel supply so that the engine runs solely on the product used (Motorvac? IIRC) Whatever you decide, my suggestion would be to do the fuel system cleaning, then replace the plugs. That way, you're not goobering up new plugs. Speaking of plugs, don't cheap out on those!!! Use NGK or Denso's, both excellent Japanese plugs for Japanese vehicles. I know, I know, it may sound old-school, but... the Japanese designed the vehicle and the plugs they used in the vehicle, who are we to change the intended set up? (this does NOT apply to altering the suspension and such for uses never dreamed of by the original Japanese engineers )

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Thanks for the reply hazy...I am a bit confused!
When I did this on my Grand Am I took the Fuel Pressure Regulator vac line and sucked up 1/3 of the can of Seafoam (is that pressurized?), 1/3 in the oil, and 1/3 in the gas tank. Since I am not too familier with the 3.0L in my Monte (don't have $125 for the service manual) I don't know where I should go about getting this in the intake.

Anyone have a pic of the FPR vacuum line, or a maybe a better place? This damn intake pluenum is pretty complicated without a manual.

I am looking forward to doing the Seafoam treatment PRIOR to plugs (or 90K service I should say). BTW, this is dumb...I have not been able to figure out one abbreviation, what is IIRC??

Any vacuum line near the throttle plate should/may/might/??? be sufficient to draw the liquid of choice into the intake. Not particularly the preferred method, but it should work. Can't recall why, but somebody told once "let me show you a better way" Dunno.

As for a service manual set, this guys set didn't sell. Click Me You might be able to pick em up cheap. There's also a set available online at a Russian site. I needed the second volume (already have the first) so I downloaded vol 2 and converted to pdf, if you want it in an email I can do that. They're scanned manuals, but they're decent quality. PM me for the link, if you want it.

Maybe Frank has some intake pics He's doing a well documented and illustrated rebuild on here. Here's the link to Frank's rebuild of Bob's 3.0L

The Abbreviation IIRC = If I Remember Correctly

Hope this helps

brake booster.
PCV hose

I dont know if it works. Never tried.
I have read of people damaging their engine by letting too much in too fast.

dont let it pull a bunch at one time. I am sure it will pull it fast, so only offer a little at a time.

I did the brake booster hose treatment. Smoke poured for a few minutes, brown at first and then cleared up. I can say for a fact it cleaned up my hesitation. I also ran a full can in my gas tank as well.

Thanks for all of the information, I'll have to take a better look this weekend. I'll probably try the PCV Valve.

Another beginner question, can you tell me where the PCV valve is in this pic?

From the front of the engine, it's on the driver bank valve cover, rearmost fitting. Unless you have some super-human shape-shifting capabilities, you have to take the upper intake off to access it. Good time to replace the intake gaskets and the valve cover gaskets if they're leaking

Thanks for that tip! I just might get in there and do that for a project when I have time. Can you tell me if I have to follow all of the steps on this link page 7?

What is a good way to keep all of my nuts/bolts/hoses consistant, just number them?

I did PM you, although is this the correct service manual for my 2002 Montero Sport 3.0? http://www.pajero4x4.ru/piii/

I know I know, what a noob!
