Ok i have this noise issue. I thougth it was my exhaust cause the hangers were broken, got that fixed, wasnt it. Then found out my front ujoints were loose, fixed that, wasnt it. So now i have no idea were its comming from. All i know is that it sounds like its comming right from under my feet or gas pedal and it sounds like morse code. dot dot d-dot dash-dash.... i've been under it looking for something loose but no luck. Oh and i only really notice it in reverse or when i turn it off. Its an auto so any ideas..could it be something internal with the t-case?

Well, it's hard to say without seeing th4e vehicle. But if you're saying that this noise only exists when the vehicle is in neutral, and it does it when the vehicle is sitting still, then it would seem to me that something in the tranny is not right.

Not neutral..reverse, and park but not so much in park mainly reverse. it litterely feels and sounds like somthing is taping the floor from underneath. But theres nothing there.

Maybe a little piece of metal in the tranny hopping around?

Your catalytic converter could be rattling also. Depending on the milage, it may still be covered by the dealer. Most vehicles are covered by an emission warranty for at least 8 years. Call dealer to see if you are still covered........Be cool....Mike <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/oink.gif" alt="" />

ok i looked under the jeep again as i was doing an oil change. The only thing i noticed, but dont know if its a problem or not, is the t-case supposed to move? Its not much i was holding the rear drive shaft and was trying to shake it and the t-case was moving a little bit, is that normal? It was moving side to side l-r.

The reason for rubber motor mounts is to dampen the vibration and sound to the frame...ALSO to allow a little movement of the engine and tranny from the torque of the engine.
If you can move the transfer case by hand, A good guess is that you need a mount.. or maybe all mounts.

Yes I have no doubts only in reverse could be happening.
