Easy to say, hard to do correctly I guess. My Torx connectors (3 of the 4) are now stripped. I pounded as best as I could to cement the torx into the connector, but to no avail. At the first turn of the socket wrench, it spins and disengages stripping the connector. I've already purchased replacement connectors, but how do I get them out?

When messing with one of them bolts I always take a small pointed object and completely CLEAN out the torx holes...COMPLETELY.. Then I use the hammer driver on them. If the wrench is not bottomed out and seated completely... problems arise. You may be able to WHACK em to get them broke loose and do a bit of grinding on an oversize tool to meke it a bit smaller and then get it to fight tightly enough to get the bolt out. If not then here comes the "easyout". If the bolts are on the rollcage or the frame one might be able to grind two parrell sides on the bolt head and get a wrench to fit and unscrew them. Never forget to WHACK em a good whack will break loose the rust and helps most frozen bolts. Big JIm <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

You stripped them out using a hammer impact driver like this? http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/prod...&vertical=TOOL&ihtoken=1I am a little suprised, but like Jim said, if you didn't have the Torx bit fully seated in the screw/ bolt, its not hard to do. Allen scres/ bolts are just as big of a pain.

My period of shame continues. It was the paint I feel, that prevented the Torx connector pin from fully seating, and in the end stripping my Torx connectors. To prevent myself from doing any further damage, I plan to visit a local body shop and pay to have them removed, and the new replacements I purchased (without any paint) installed.

Thats a bummer, yeah you really have to get everything out of screw head first, it doesnt matter if you are dealing with an Allen, Phillips, Torx or a Straight slot. I would be very careful about putting non coated screws/ bolts back in, I would at least put a good coating of Anti-seize on the threads to combat any future removals.
