Carb rebuilding tips: Keep it clean. Don't strip screws! Keep organized. Egg cartons and ziplock bags work well. Take pics. Be carefull how you remove gaskets! I actually polished some gasket surfaces with a dremel and rubbing compound. Anybody thought of putting teflon tape on threaded parts?

If someone ever figures out how the heck these things leak down, please let me know.
I've set one out completely disassembled and filled it with water and I couldn't get the level to drop, and yet the last 4 I've put on my truck easily lose half an inch or more in just a few hours after it's parked.
It makes no sense because every fuel outlet from the bowl (aside from the AP and AAP) come up above the fuel level. And I can visually verify neither of the pumps are leaking.
I have fuel gremlins stealing my gas!

Fuel molecules are smaller than water molecules, so gas will leak where water won't. That said, any chance this is evaporation (possibly helped along by heat after the engine is shut off)?

I did the same thing & never found the source either.
In answer to the other post, this wasn't evaporation, as it would happen even if I only started up long enough to fill the bowl.

I do not have that problem with mine. Next morning, the truck starts instantly. My carb has a drain plug at the bottom of the bowl, that if you loosen, it drains the bowl completely. Could it be leaking on yours?
