How old are you looking to go? Vintage means a lot of things lol. When you say Chevy Motor I suppose your talking about the 2.8L V6. The 4ZD1 is a 2.3 and it is a good motor but its really under powered for a Trooper. 2.6L is better but still under powered. But still better than the 2.3 power wise. 2.6 is a gas version of a deisel lol, lot of stroke in that little motor. 2.8 Really isnt that bad and has a ton of power upgrade's too. 2.6 is a Vacuum line monster, they are everywhere on that motor. Not to sure on the 2.3 but I think it is carburated. Correct me if Im wrong.
